Joe Sarah is a food & drinks photographer with over ten years of experience working in the industry, starting in moving image lighting cookery shows and commercials. He transitioned to photography nearly a decade ago, bringing with him his ability to work with light. Allowing the light to lead the way he is comfortable working on location with daylight or creating both natural and theatric scenes in studios. Because of his understanding of video, he is extremely comfortable working in harmony with moving image campaigns and often gets employed alongside directors in this capacity.
A lot of his personal projects revolve around creating stories on visual perception and behavioural psychology concerning food. In other words, he likes to know what's going on in our heads when we look at a photo of food. When he is not photographing food, Joe is reading, writing or cooking. He believes in a multidisciplinary approach to storytelling which combines these other passions and puts as much care into his shoot proposals and briefs as his photography.
He has worked with chefs such as Jamie Oliver, Heston Blumenthal, Anna Jones, Stevie Parle and Margot Henderson and his commercial clients have been Schweppes, Liptons, Walkers Crisps, Knorr, Fever-Tree, Hendricks Gin, Ballantine's Whiskey, Makers Mark, Jacobs Crackers and Cross Town Doughnuts.
His work has been up on the wall at Somerset House and the Adam & Eve charity auction exhibition.
